"Japanese with Teppei and Noriko" - Japanese Language Learning Podcast

The "Japanese with Teppei and Noriko" podcast is for intermediate level Japanese learners. Maybe you have seen some of my previous reviews for Teppei’s podcasts (he has more than 4).

  1. Nihongo con Teppei (<--link)
  2. Japanese Podcast for Beginners (Nihongo con Teppei) (<--link)
  3. Nihongo con Teppei Z (<--link)

Teppei is interesting to listen to, speaks entirely in Japanese on his podcast episodes, and speaks clearly so that you can understand him. Noriko is also a Japanese teacher who has her own podcast, she a review here: "Learn Japanese with Noriko" (<--link). She also speaks entirely in Japanese, and speaks clearly so that you can understand. They make the “Japanese with Teppei and Noriko” podcast while having a conversation with each other, and then edit the conversations into episodes for the podcast. You can really tell during the beginning episodes that they have a long conversation, and then that conversation is broken up into short episodes for the podcast.  This is because the ending of each episode feels cut off. Also, during the episodes towards the beginning, there is no speaking intro. There is only a short music clip that plays to act as a ‘separator’ between episodes. If you have a podcast player that auto plays episodes, this short music clip is the only way that you can tell that an episode has ended and another has begun. Well, the only way except for the sound just suddenly stopping.

Either way, I find it much more interesting to listen to two people have a conversation. I think you pick up more conversational tools and social cues on how to interact with Japanese. Teppei and Noriko began putting up episodes of the “Japanese with Teppei and Noriko” podcast back in October of 2020, and they currently have 367 episodes. Episodes during 2021 and 2022 tend to average around 20 minutes in length. And, for as far back as I can see, once each week two episodes are released on the same day. They talk about many different types of topics on the podcast. Mostly daily life types of things, but maybe news or other topics every once in a while. Teppei also posts audio of these podcasts on his YouTube channel. A review of Noriko’s podcast will be coming soon.
