"ポケット ストーリーズ" (Pocket Stories) Podcast for Japanese Listening Practice

The "ポケット ストーリーズ'' (Pocket Stories) podcast is an intermediate/advanced level Japanese language podcast that you can use to practice listening and comprehending Japanese.

This is a native Japanese language podcast that is intended for a Japanese audience; so there is no assistance with learning the language and no English spoken at all. However, each episode does have a transcript, in Japanese, on Spotify. The transcript is auto-generated, so may not always be correct. But, you can use this Japanese transcript while you are listening to the podcast to help with your Japanese reading skills.

Each podcast episode is a short story that is anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes in length. The stories are narrated like an audiobook, with different people voicing different characters and describing the stories. There is something here for everyone, as each day of the week is a different theme. It is an interesting podcast to listen to, as there are many different characters and stories to provide variety.

Episodes are released every week on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Monday is Comedy, Tuesday is Mystery and Suspense, Wednesday is Love Stories, and Thursday is Variety. The “Pocket Stories” podcast began releasing episodes in July of 2022, and is still going strong with over 60 episodes so far. Every so often an episode will also be posted that is more of a conversational dialogue between the two podcast hosts. They recap the week’s stories, discuss the actors, provide a preview of upcoming stories, and just have general discussions about different topics.
