This should be an easy Kanji Reading Practice, as all the kanji are below level 13 on WaniKani. I ran into this sign while walking through a park area.
Why do I do this? Well, I believe that practicing reading the kanji that you have finished reviewing (or 'burned' as they call it on WaniKani) will help you to keep that kanji in your memory. There are a lot of kanji that I have burned, and then forgotten. You have to see things again and again and again to remember them. The explanation of the kanji follows the photo below.
The Kanji Meanings and Readings (this usage):
本 (ホン) - this, present
日 (ジツ) - day
休 (キュウ) - rest
館 (カン) – public building (museum)
The Words:
本日 – (ホンジツ) – this day, today
休館 – (キュウカン) – closure (of a library, museum, etc.)
The Meaning:
本日休館 – museum closed today
